Established over twenty years ago in the Forest Hill Chase Shopping Centre, with vast experience the Australian Stamp and Coin Company is here to provide you with a very professional service.
Tom Jenkins, the principal, has accumulated over 50 years experience in the hobby and they say that the first 50 years are the hardest, after that it's plain sailing and a lot of fun!
Tom, born in Melbourne and still delighted to call Melbourne home is the driving force behind the business, he has also travelled extensively overseas for many years, more recently specifically with matters philatelic, the main destinations being the United Kingdom and North America.
As one of the main objectives of the business is to develop and foster an interest in Australian Philately, it is not surprising to know that his personal collecting interests have in the main been devoted to the study of Australian issues from early colonial through to current decimal issues. In particular he is deeply involved in the specialized study of plating, varieties, printing and history of the Commonwealth period issues.
With Membership of The Australian Philatelic Traders Association, The Australian Philatelic Society Inc., Australasian Numismatic Dealers Association and others will readily show that Tom means business and takes more than a passing interest in philately, coins and banknotes.
To Tom and his staff the business is all about looking at and discussing all aspects of stamps, coins and banknotes and enjoying the fascination of these hobbies with their customers. Of course behind the showroom is a complex of offices, workrooms and seemingly endless metres of shelving filled with all sorts of weird and wonderful things, a busy, busy shop indeed.
